How long do extensions last?

Keratin Fusion (K-Tip)- typically last 3-6 months depending on natural hair growth and at home care.

Hand-Tied Weft- require maintenance, moving up of rows, every 6-8 weeks.

V Light hair extensions shed along with your natural hair. Typically, V Light extensions last 2-8 weeks, depending on the application method used.

How are extensions maintained?

Brushing extensions daily
Brushing hair 2x daily with Aqua Boar Bristle Brush. Use brush while securing your hair with opposite hand to prevent tension on the roots. Brush before wetting your hair & use leave in conditioner as detangling spray.

Washing your extensions
Wash hair with Aqua Shampoo & Conditioner, up to 3 times a week.
Apply shampoo to root area and gently massage to remove product build-up, in a back and forth Z-Like motion.
Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends, avoiding to root area.
Ensure hair is fully dry before sleeping- secure it in a loose braid or ponytail.
Remember do not wash hair for 48 hours after your extension installation.

Styling tips
Avoid direct heat on bonds.
Style extensions as desired, while remembering the following:
1. Do not aim blow dryer directly at the attachment point.
2. Do not flat iron bonds, start your pass below the bond area.

Use Aqua Leave In Conditioner as a heat protection spray on extension ends.
Avoid alcohol, protein, and sulfate products on extensions, seek styling products recommendation from stylist.

Caring for extensions during physical activities
Secure hair in a ponytail/braid before activity.
Before pool, beach, or gym, braid , bun, or cap your hair.
Wet hair and apply conditioner as a barrier before swimming.
Wash & condition hair immediately after activities to remove chemicals, sweat, or residue.

Will extensions damage my natural hair?

When applied correctly, extensions will not damage your natural hair.

How often do I need to come in for maintenance?

Keratin Fusion (K Tip)- don’t require a lot of maintenance. They don’t require move ups, they need to be removed around 3-6 months and reinstalled.

Hand-Tied Wefts- require some maintenance. They require the rows to be moved up every 6-8 weeks. The hair can be reused depending on the integrity of the hair for up to a year.

V-Light : naturally shed off with your natural hair. Also, don’t require move ups, they will need to be reapplied every 2-8 weeks.

What is the installation process like?

Keratin Fusion (K Tip) depending on the look you are going for can take 2-5 hours for an install. First, clarifying shampoo, no conditioner, blow dry and straighten. Then section by section, we use a fusion tool to heat up keratin bonds, roll around natural hair.

Hand-Tied Wefts- depending on your desired look, installation can take 30 mins to 3 hours for maintenance or an install. First, clarifying shampoo (no conditioner), blow dry, and straighten. Then section by section, we do beadwork, then place panels of weft hair, and sew them into your natural hair.

Are extensions suitable for all hair types?

Keratin Fusion (K Tip) & V-Light are suitable for all hair types. Any density of hair short, medium, or long length hair can be placed in small/tight areas where other systems can not.

Keratin Fusion (K Tip) are not suitable for those experiencing hair loss or see through or those looking for a wash and go style, that spend no time on their hair.

Hand-Tied are perfect for all densities of hair of medium to long length. For individuals who want to add lightweight, natural-looking volume and length.

V-Light extensions are perfect for those who are experiencing see through fine hair. V Light extensions are worn in low density areas to increase density.

Can extensions be color-matched to my hair?

Aqua Hair Extensions offers a vast array of colors. We will do a consultation to color match you and if we need to we will match your hair to the color of the extension hair.
